What is Medicare?
Medicare is a federal health insurance program that pays various health care costs. It is administered by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Medicare beneficiaries are generally people over 65 years of age or older. Adults with certain approved medical conditions (such as Lou Gehrig's disease) or eligible permanent disability may also be eligible for medicare benefits.
