You can use Medicare.gov's official eligibility and premium estimator to explore when Medicare may begin. This website does not provide an eligibility calculator or issue government approvals. Social Security or the appropriate enrollment agency determines your individual entitlement.

Use the official estimator
Open Medicare's eligibility and premium estimator. Review the result alongside your actual enrollment record, particularly if disability, ESRD, current employment or an unusual eligibility history applies.
Prepare the relevant information
| Information | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Age and existing benefit status | Helps identify an enrollment pathway. |
| Work and Medicare-tax history | May affect premium-free Part A eligibility. |
| Current employer coverage dates | Important when evaluating Part B enrollment timing. |
| Official notices | Confirm dates an online estimate cannot approve. |
Know what an estimate cannot do
It does not enroll you, authorize treatment or guarantee a private plan's availability. A Medicare Advantage application also requires the appropriate Medicare enrollment, service area and enrollment opportunity.
An insurance agent can explain plan choices but cannot change a federal entitlement decision. Do not treat a marketing form or a submitted callback request as completed Medicare enrollment.
Next steps
- Save the estimate for reference.
- Check your official Medicare or Social Security record.
- Resolve differences before cancelling existing coverage.
- Submit any required application through the authorized channel.
- Keep the confirmation and effective dates.
Use secure government or authorized enrollment channels for identity information. You do not need to post your Social Security number, Medicare number or medical details in public comments to obtain general guidance.
