Highmark Medicare Advantage is a family of plans, not one national package. The right comparison starts with your county, coverage year and complete plan name. Benefits in an older article are not confirmation of what your current or future plan provides.

Plan names and locations matter
Highmark's official 2026 announcement describes different changes for Complete Blue HMO, Complete Blue PPO and Community Blue Medicare HMO in different markets. It also discusses commercial insurance changes separately. Do not apply those commercial rules to a Medicare policy.
| Document | Useful question |
|---|---|
| Summary of Benefits | What are the premium, copays and medical spending limits? |
| Provider directory | Are my specific doctors and hospitals in this network? |
| Evidence of Coverage | What requires authorization, and what limits apply? |
| Annual Notice of Change | What changes next year for an existing member? |
Compare access as well as extras
An HMO and PPO may handle routine out-of-network care differently. Verify each provider with both the plan and the practice. A doctor's acceptance of another Blue Cross or Highmark product does not confirm participation in the plan you are considering.
Check hospital stays, outpatient surgery, therapy and equipment costs. An advertised dental, vision or hearing benefit has its own covered services, limits and provider requirements.
Before enrolling
- Confirm Parts A and B, service-area residence and an applicable enrollment period.
- Record the full plan identifier and year.
- Compare total expected spending, including Part B premiums.
- Check how a change affects employer or retiree coverage.
- Save the official enrollment confirmation and effective date.
A star rating belongs to a particular contract and year; it is not a guarantee that every Highmark plan meets your needs. Use current documents and your own care requirements to compare available options.
