Understand standard Plan F benefits, the pre-2020 eligibility rule and what to verify in a Mutual of Omaha policy before applying.

Mutual of Omaha Medicare Supplement Plan F helps pay specified expenses left by Original Medicare. It is a Medigap policy, not Medicare Advantage or a promise that every health-related purchase is covered.

Who can consider Plan F?

Plan F is limited to people first eligible for Medicare before January 1, 2020. Being 65 now does not by itself answer that question; some people qualified earlier because of disability. The insurer must still confirm state availability and your enrollment or guaranteed-issue rights.

If you already have Plan F, the 2020 restriction did not automatically cancel it. Keep premiums current and read policy notices. Changing insurers may involve underwriting unless a protection applies.

Standard Plan F benefits

Expense Standardized benefit
Part A Hospital coinsurance, specified additional hospital days and the Part A deductible.
Part B Covered coinsurance or copayments, the deductible and excess charges.
Skilled nursing Coinsurance for Medicare-covered skilled nursing care, not unlimited long-term care.
Other categories Specified blood and hospice cost sharing and limited foreign-travel emergency benefits.

What the benefit does not promise

Plan F generally does not add routine dental care, hearing aids, routine vision care or custodial care to Medicare's covered services. It does not pay all costs after skilled nursing coverage is exhausted. Current Medigap policies do not include Part D.

Foreign emergency benefits have a separate deductible, percentage, time and lifetime limits. A fitness or hearing discount offered with a policy is not the same as insurance coverage and may change.

Compare F with G using an actual quote

Standard G does not pay the Part B deductible, which is $283 in 2026. Compare the annual premium difference with that distinction rather than assume the higher-benefit letter is automatically better value. If a high-deductible policy is offered, compare its separate deductible before applying.

Confirm the issuing insurer and effective date in writing. Keep current coverage until the replacement is accepted and cancellation is coordinated.
