Wellcare Value Script is a stand-alone Medicare Part D plan. It helps with covered outpatient prescription costs; it does not replace Medicare hospital and medical coverage or function as a Medicare Supplement policy. Match the plan's documents to your state or region and the year you want coverage.

Build a useful cost comparison
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Monthly premium | You pay it even in months without covered purchases. |
| Deductible | Check the amount and which tiers it applies to. |
| Pharmacy network | Preferred and standard participating pharmacies may have different costs. |
| Coverage rules | Prior authorization, quantity limits or step therapy may apply. |
| Annual estimate | Compare the total rather than a single advertised copay. |
Use the correct benefit documents
The Summary of Benefits offers an overview. The Evidence of Coverage explains the contract, and the formulary and pharmacy directory answer separate coverage and access questions. Review the Annual Notice of Change when renewing; last year's list or prices may no longer apply.
Keep personal prescription information within the secure plan comparison process, your pharmacy or your prescriber's office. This article does not recommend any particular medicine or treatment.
Check compatibility before enrolling
A separate Part D plan generally requires Part A or Part B and residence in its service area. It is not automatically compatible with an existing Medicare Advantage HMO or PPO. Joining a separate Part D plan can end that Medicare Advantage enrollment and return you to Original Medicare.
Ask for help with an unexpected charge
Ask the pharmacy and plan whether the issue concerns the deductible, network, coverage tier or an authorization requirement. Request the appropriate written coverage decision if needed. Also check whether you qualify for Extra Help; do not assume a plan name or low advertised premium proves the lowest overall cost for your situation.
