Aetna Medicare PPO coverage for physical therapy depends on the medically necessary service and your particular plan’s rules. A PPO may offer out-of-network benefits, but that does not mean every therapist agrees to treat you or that the same price applies everywhere.
Verify the therapist and location
Check Aetna’s current directory for your exact Medicare PPO, then confirm with the office. Use the individual therapist or practice, location and plan name. Asking only whether a practice “takes Aetna” is not enough.

Medicare’s physical therapy benefit can include services to improve or maintain function or slow decline when skilled care is medically necessary. A diagnosis alone does not approve a fixed package of visits. The professional should document why the service is needed and how it will be reviewed.
The absence of a fixed annual Original Medicare payment cap is not a promise that every service or visit in a private package is covered. Your Aetna Medicare PPO’s payment and administrative rules still need checking.
Keep the benefit response
