A Humana Medicare Advantage plan may include a hearing-aid benefit, but the covered devices, provider pathway and member costs depend on the plan. Check the current Evidence of Coverage before purchasing. A routine hearing exam and a hearing-aid purchase are separate benefit questions.

Original Medicare does not cover hearing aids or exams for fitting them. A Humana Medigap policy does not automatically supply the hearing benefit offered by a Humana Medicare Advantage plan.
Check whether TruHearing is required
Some Humana benefit documents specify a TruHearing provider network. For example, its 2026 HER245 benefit description uses that pathway. The example does not establish your own copayment, device allowance or warranty.
Ask member services to identify your hearing benefit and how to arrange an eligible appointment. A medical PPO’s outside-network rules do not necessarily allow you to buy hearing aids anywhere and receive the same payment.
Request a complete written estimate
- Is the proposed device covered under your exact benefit?
- What is the cost per ear and for any upgrade?
- Are fitting, adjustments and follow-up included?
- What return period, warranty and loss provisions apply?
- When can the benefit be used again?
Keep the estimate, authorization when required, and proof of purchase. Ask about repair coverage before paying another provider.
If the claim is denied
Read the stated reason and confirm whether it concerns eligibility, network, device or purchase timing. Follow the plan’s review instructions. A qualified hearing professional should guide clinical decisions; this article explains insurance rather than recommending a device.
