Blue Advantage from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama is a Medicare Advantage PPO. “Blue Cross C” is not enough information to identify a different insurance product. It may refer to Medicare Part C or be confused with Medigap Plan C.

Part C and Plan C are different
Medicare Advantage is called Part C; it is not a supplement that simply pays Original Medicare's leftover bills. Medigap Plan C is generally unavailable to people newly eligible for Medicare on or after January 1, 2020. That restriction does not prevent eligible people from considering Medicare Advantage.
Use Alabama's actual documents
Review the current Blue Advantage product available at your residence, including full name and contract. Compare its provider network, outside-network terms and medical spending limit. Do not invent a second “Blue Cross C” policy with supposedly higher premiums or broader benefits.
Compare total expenses and care access
- Include all premiums and expected service charges.
- Check your doctors and preferred hospitals.
- Review supplemental benefits and their limits.
- Consider travel and planned care outside your area.
A Medigap comparison also requires the correct plan designation, insurer quote and acceptance rules. Annual Medicare enrollment does not automatically guarantee a Medigap policy without underwriting.
Before switching
