CDPHP includes dental benefits in its Medicare plan offerings, but the amount available and the way you use it depend on the exact plan. Do not rely on a general CDPHP dental description or an employer or pediatric policy when estimating a Medicare member's costs.

Start with the Medicare benefit documents
Locate the current Summary of Benefits and Evidence of Coverage for your plan name and county. Find the dental section, any annual allowance and the instructions for obtaining services. Benefits offered to an employer retiree group may differ from an individual Medicare Advantage plan.
CDPHP's separate Delta Dental and pediatric materials are not evidence that every Medicare plan covers the same procedures. In particular, a broad claim that orthodontics, implants and all major work are automatically included is not supported by the company name alone.
Understand how payment works
| Question | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Which services qualify? | A dental allowance may have exclusions or procedure rules. |
| How much remains? | Earlier claims can reduce the benefit available this year. |
| Which dentist can I use? | Confirm any participation or billing requirements. |
| How do I pay? | Follow the plan's benefit-card, direct-billing or reimbursement instructions. |
Before major dental work
Obtain a written treatment plan listing procedures, dates and charges. Ask CDPHP how each service is treated and whether an advance review is available. A dentist's recommendation establishes a clinical proposal, not an insurance payment guarantee.
If reimbursement is required, use the official member form and keep itemized receipts and proof of payment. Submit through the designated secure channel by the deadline in your plan documents. Sending a claim does not make an excluded service covered.
Compare the dental benefit alongside the medical network and total plan costs. Original Medicare generally excludes routine dental care, and changing a Medicare Advantage plan solely for an advertised dental amount can affect other coverage you use.
